Foshan Baolin Temple is located at the western foot of Taiping Mountain in Daliang, Shunde, amidst the beautiful waters of Mingshan Mountain, taking the shape of “Long Yue Tianmen, Tiger Lying Phoenix Pavilion”. In 1996, it was relocated and rebuilt, covering an area of 130,000 square meters, known as “Taiping Ruiqi”.
The current Baolin Temple was rebuilt in 1996 and was built on October 11, 1998 (the original site is located in the area of the Youth Palace in Daliang District). It is surrounded by Desheng River on the left, and the old village and Qingyun towers are on the right. It covers an area of 13 10,000 square meters (including 13,000 square meters of construction area). The main hall is built against the mountain, magnificent, simple and solemn. Climbing up the stairs, there are mountain gates (separately arranged on both sides with two generals Hengha), Tianwangdian (enshrine Maitreya Buddha and the four heavenly kings of the “Feng Tiaoyushun”), drum tower, bell tower (drum diameter of 2.6 meters, bell weight of 2.8 tons), and Nine Dragon Wall (width 18.3) Meters, height 7.9 meters), Zhaitang, guest hall, Daxiong Hall (enshrine Buddha Shakyamuni, Amitabha, Disaster and Longevity Buddha, Samantabhadra, Manjusri), Jizo Hall (enshrine Jizo Bodhisattva), Guanyin Temple ( Enshrining Guanyin Bodhisattva), Arhat Hall (enshrining five hundred arhats), stele corridor, monk’s house, Tibetan scripture pavilion (enshrining the Three Holy Saints in the West)… a more magnificent Buddhist jungle than the original site has become the cultural landscape of Shunde and even Foshan. When I look back, I have a panoramic view of the prosperity of the world.
At the beginning of the reconstruction of the Baolin Temple, it was also due to fate, so enthusiastic people donated a pure gold Guanyin to read the origin of the Baolin Temple. Therefore, the overall planning of the Baolin Temple building is divided into two phases, and the Guanyin Hall of the Lower Courtyard is the second phase of the project (breaking ground in the autumn of 2001, which lasted 3 years).
The Guanyin Hall of Baolin Temple is backed by mountains and rivers, with lakes and green trees. It covers an area of 10,000 square meters and a building area of 2,310 square meters. The layout is compact, and what you see is elegant and exquisite. The courtyard in front of the temple is dotted with pieces of purple bamboo, which form a forest. In addition, there are stone sculptures of “Twenty-Four Filial Piety” and “Avalokitesvara Thirty-two Yingshen” in the four-ring corridor, which is vivid and vivid; the pure gold Guanyin (1.68 meters high, weight 37.3 kg), the Dharma image is solemn, the good fortune, the dragon girl attends around, and then the “Eighteen Avalokitesvara” is enshrined. The Guanyin Hall of the Lower Court is in the same line as the Baolin Temple and echoes with each other. The morning bells and evening drums on the Victoria Peak attract batch after batch of faithful tourists.
Since the Baolin Temple was opened in 1998, it has received support and praise from all walks of life. It is a building modeled after the Song and Ming dynasties. It is magnificent and the largest temple in Guangdong. In 2000, it was awarded the Buddhist civilization temple by the Guangdong Buddhist Association.
